AML Policy

AML/CTF customer checks

Since 1 July 2026, Australian anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) requirements have applied to certain real estate services.

When C J Hills Real Estate provides a designated service involving the sale, purchase or transfer of property, we may need to complete Customer Due Diligence (CDD) before we begin that service. These checks may apply to both sellers and buyers. They do not automatically apply to every service we provide.

Why do you need this information?

CDD helps us verify who we are dealing with, understand who owns or controls an entity involved in a transaction, assess relevant risks and meet our legal obligations.

What information might you ask for?

The information we request will depend on the transaction and the checks required. It may include:

  • your name, date of birth and residential address;
  • identification, such as a driver licence or passport;
  • information about the ownership or control of a company, trust or other entity; and
  • further information about the transaction or, where required, the source of funds or wealth.

How will you handle my information?

We handle personal information collected for AML/CTF checks in accordance with our legal obligations and our Privacy Policy [LINK]. Please read our AML/CTF Privacy Collection Notice for details about the information we collect, how it is used and who it may be shared with.

What if I don’t provide the requested information?

If we cannot complete the required checks, we may be unable to provide the relevant service or proceed on your behalf until the checks are complete.

If you have questions about the checks, please contact C J Hills Real Estate.
